“Like so many great ideas, Drink Dine Discover began over a bottle of wine. Frustrated with my 9-5 job in wine, I was looking for a new challenge that could also incorporate my love of food and travel, as well as the knowledge I gained from living and working abroad. So when a friend suggested rather than looking for the perfect opportunity, why not create it myself, it got me thinking…
What if I could share the glorious corners of the world that I had been lucky enough to experience through the eyes of the locals, sitting around their family tables, or sipping wine amongst carefully tended vines, enjoying their hospitality and beloved recipes?
A lucky break, and a lot of hard work later, Drink Dine Discover was born; a travel company for those who love to explore the world with a fork (and glass) in hand. Food and drink are incredibly important aspects of history and culture throughout the world, and I’d rather learn about my surroundings around the dinner table than through museum glass any day!”
– Aimee Fogarty
Aimee’s love of history and languages (she speaks French, Spanish, and Italian) has taken her all over Europe and set the foundations of her career as a serious foodie and wine consultant. A year studying at Università la Sapienza in Rome, and working as a tour guide at the Colosseum and Roman Forum, means Aimee can navigate her way through the backstreets by way of the finest pizzerie Romane and gelati. She’s lived in Sorrento, Venice and Florence, later moving to Madrid with her Spanish partner, Rudy. Here, she developed her knowledge of wine from Rudy’s father, an avid collector, developing a serious addiction to vintage Vega Sicilia. Whenever she can, Aimee escapes to her family home in Western France, taking the role of sommelier for evenings by the fire with a baguette and a box of camembert.
