FAQ: Who goes on our tours and other questions…

Who goes on our trips?

A mixed bunch united by one thing- a love of good food and a glass (or two) of wine! You certainly don’t need to be an expert on either- our trips are mainly about having fun rather than boasting about obscure vintages. We hope we’ll introduce you to something you love that you’ve never tried before- Alex has recently discovered the delights of Vin Santo- and see the very best of each region along the way. This is very much a “sit back and enjoy” type holiday- we’ll take care of the details from start to finish, so you can concentrate on the tough stuff- like what really is the best tapas in Madrid. If the jolly dinner parties we’ve been with guests of our most recent tour are anything to go by, it’s a formula that works well!

How big are our groups?

Our escorted tours are sociable and fun- for that reason we like to keep group sizes small. As we’re very much off the beaten tourist trail we operate our tours with a minimum of six people to keep logistical costs to a minimum level (unless you book a private gourmet tour). The maximum number of people on our tours is usually 14 -often fewer- so we can all sit around a table together!

What if I don’t want to be with the group all of the time?

This is very much your holiday, so you can do exactly as you please! As part of each of our gourmet tours we include a number of meals and activities, but if you’d prefer to relax in the hotel with a good book, or find a little cafe to enjoy a cappuccino that’s entirely up to you!

Does it matter if I have specific dietary requirements?

If you have particular dietary requirements we’ll notify all of the places we’re going to make sure they are aware of it, and they will do their best to cater to your needs. As many of the people we visit are tiny artisanal suppliers without the stringent restrictions of factories in the UK, we can’t guarantee that we can cater to serious food allergies. However, a recent tour included guests who were allergic to nuts, wheat, and dairy who all had a splendid time and were either on their second tour with us, or asked to book onto a second tour when they returned!
